Article 31 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child says that states shall: “… respect and promote the right of the child to participate fully in cultural and artistic life.”
Live theatre is essential to the artistic, cultural, social and spiritual development of today’s young people.
Every civilisation and culture has enjoyed the art of theatre… celebrating difference and unity.
In the shared enjoyment of stories and dramatic situations, young audiences explore personal and social issues directly but safely… theatre is the art of living together.
More than 225 UK professional theatres work for young audiences.
