The section on COVID-19 is an additional element this year- to help us understand the impact of the pandemic.

We now have some questions about the impact of COVID-19 on your work. We require this information to help us build a sector wide understanding of the impact of COVID-19 to help us lobby and see where the sector most needs help/support.
We understand this survey was quite long. We are keen to make a case about the impact and importance of our sector in our lobbying to government, educational bodies and other stakeholders, therefore we need to properly understand our sector. Thank you greatly for taking the time to complete this.
Finally, we would like to understand more about who makes up our sector so we can best understand how inclusive and diverse we are. Please do not feel obliged to answer any questions you do not want to.
1. Ethnicity
*We are asking people if they identify as male/female inc trans people because that is what trans people ARE, male or female, and we are wanting to know about male/female data. We then ask about gender assigned at birth to tell us trans specific data.
7. Socio-economic
Please tell us about the occupation of your main/highest income earner in your household when you were aged 14**. If this question does not apply to you (because, for example, you were in care at this time), you can indicate this below.
**This is a new question requested by Arts Council England as professions are deeply unrepresentative of wider society with respect to socio-economic background. This question has been developed by Jerwood Arts and it is a strong predictor of adult outcomes, it is internationally applicable, and response rates at employers across sectors have been relatively positive. It is also the indicator used in many national surveys, including the Labour Force Survey.
8. Caring Responsibilities
A carer is define as someone who, without pay, looks after and provides help and support to a partner, child (17 or under) or relative who could not manage without their help or support. This caring responsibility could be necessary due to age, physical or mental illness, addiction, sickness or disability. We will use this information to inform our flexible working practices.
